This position is for a part-time library assistant for the Laurens County Library System, Clinton branch. Duties include working at front circulation desk, shelving materials and answering patrons directional and reference questions. Other duties may be assigned as required. An applicant should have the ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft office suite and internet browsers in order to learn library software programs and to assist patrons with computer tasks. The successful applicant will have a friendly attitude, helpful manner and professional demeanor, and be able to work in an environment requiring attention to detail and the ability to shift to new tasks quickly. Position is for 20 hours per week and some evening and Saturday work is required. Applicant must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and should be able to reach, stoop and bend without difficulty. Applicants must submit to a pre-employment drug test and have an acceptable background check.
Minimum Training and Experience
Requires High School Graduation and some advanced education desired. Good computer and Internet skills are required. Must work well with the public and know basics of public service. Attention to detail is a must.
