Laurens County Human Resources is accepting applications for a Part-Time Claim Representative within the Veterans Affairs office. The VA Claim Representative is to assist veterans, spouses, and their dependents in securing benefits from federal government and the state of South Carolina. The work involves providing information and assistance to veterans and dependents in obtaining special services and benefits. Representatives will conduct interviews to obtain information to determine eligibility, assist completion of forms, and assist with data collection and entry. This position will require excellent customer service skills and experience.
Minimum requirements: must have a valid driver’s license, high school diploma or GED supplemented by two years of general office experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficient computer skills are required. Experience with Veterans Information Management System is desired. Education may be may be substituted for experience.
The successful candidate is required to pass pre-employment drug testing and are subject to random testing.
