Provisional Building Inspector

Laurens County Human Resources is accepting applications for the position of Provisional Building Inspector within the Building Codes Department. Under regular supervision, conducts comprehensive inspections of residential building
construction and manufactured home set-ups to ensure compliance with all applicable building, trades, and related codes and ordinances. Work involves scheduling and conducting inspections, explaining code requirements as requested, issuing certificates of occupancy, preparing required reports and records, and performing related technical work as required. Reports to the Building Official.


Requirements: Requires an Associate’s degree or equivalent in construction administration, code enforcement,
building inspection or related field obtained at a two-year college or technical school, plus six months to one year of related experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license with a good driving record. Must possess International Code Council certification as a Residential Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Plumbing Inspector or obtain certification within the following time frames:
Residential Inspector—one (1) certification within the first year, then a minimum of one (1) per year for each additional certification as required by South Carolina Labor, Licensing, and Regulation.


Salary: $18.38 per hour
