Part-Time Deputy Coroner

Laurens County is accepting applications for a part-time Deputy Coroner. The employee works under the supervision of the coroner.  If the coroner is unavailable, he/she will work under the supervision of the Chief Deputy Coroner.   The Deputy Coroner is appointed at the coroner’s discretion and may do and perform any or all the duties of the coroner’s office.  The Deputy Coroner is primarily responsible for death scene investigations to determine the cause and manner of death within the jurisdiction of Laurens County per South Carolina’s stature.

Minimum Training and Experience

You must be twenty-one years of age before an appointment.   A high school graduate or equivalent; secondary education in a related field beneficial.  Minimum of two years of experience in death investigation, law enforcement, EMS, or related field.
